Everlasting regrets

Grief

Depression overtook your sense of knowing how to live the life you lead,
Your life's ambition became a vision of you winding up lying there, dead,
I wanted to give you anything and everything, to make your life complete,
The monster that ate you up inside won its battleless defeat.
You confided in me to keep your secrets padlocked inside my soul,
Death's black hawk tormented your mind, to kill was its ultimate goal,
I should have stayed to fight your endless battles, make your life so shiny and new,
But negativity embedded its curse so deep, what else was I to do?
Everlasting regrets follow my darkened shadow each and every day,
But you bowed down to her every action, her rules you chose to obey.
You were my sunshine when things turned dark but depression just wormed its way through,
I still wish I could bring you back to live some happy days and I hope you wish that too.
For now I'll say my goodbyes forever, but I'll grow to love you more and more,
The scars etched deeply inside of me will always remain painfully sore,
As long as your satisfied with your new life, I'll try my best to compromise,
But the depression that destroyed you entirely I will always completely despise.
