Ritual of the Viper (I - III)

Ritual of the Viper (I-III)

Start of the Ritual - Startled

Rested in peace
Until this new piece came
No longer rests
The weight of false blame

Time curls its tail
And no mercy spares
Beaten head to toe
And new punishment dares

Clinch your eyes
And close your fists
Bang your head to open
What was, at first, missed

You strain your neck
To see what you hope is clear
But you lost that privilege
When you cut loose what was dear

Mid Ritual - Coiled

And now, in defense, it coils
Deaf to its own blame
Now awakened and sharp
It seeks to play the game

Sharp eyes, and quick tongue
Full of venom, its fangs drip
Waiting calmly, and still
Waiting for the soul to rip

It sees her approach
Reflections in its eyes
Reflections of the past
And all that has died

Bringing the Ritual Home - Striking

Death sings to it
Like a sick lullabye
Mind is diseased
And seeing red skies

Blood flows like madness
And pushes it on
It can't stop for blood
Until its all gone.
