A Child Without Love

Topic: drugabuse

What you are about to read is true , I know this sweet little boy.

My name is Nicholas I'm eight years old
I'm the youngest of three
Like any child my age I pick on my brother and sister as they do to me
I play with cars, trucks and our computer
I like having fun and playing jokes on everyone

That’s my funny side
When I first started school I was doing very well
My mom would help me with my school work every evening
I like learning something new everyday
Then one day mom got a job

She works second shift
So now dad is home with us
I have no help with my school work
Dad has no time he's always on his computer
He says its for work

So there’s no one to help me
My mom has been called to school
The teacher says I'm not moving on as fast as the others
My homework is never done
And of course its all my fault

But no one will listen when I say I need help
The teacher also says I act up in class at times
Hey doesn't every kid have a moment like this
So now I'm labled as a problem child
Now because of all this I'm taken to see a doctor

My mom tells the doctor I'm out of control at home and at school
I don't see it that way
All I really need is a little love and attention from my mom and dad
But when its not there your on your own
Who knows what all mom told this doctor

All I know is I'm taking this awful medicine
The medicine does something to me
I'm not a happy eight year old boy that likes to have fun
I look at people with fear on my face
Very little I have to say

My blue eyes are dazed
I have no smile
I'm loosing weight
But most of all my heart is empty and my mind is blank
Others see this why can't you

If only I got a hug
Or maybe to hear you say "I love you"
Share a little time with me
I would have something to hold onto
Do you know the medicine is killing me slowly

Just the way you want it
It takes the burden off you and dad
And now you think I'm the perfect little boy
But in reality your killing me

Nancy

This is so sad. I can't believe they would even consider putting an eight year old on medication. I can't believe they can't just open their eyes and see that they're the problem...this was a great poem and even though I don't know the boy, I agree with you.
