Nothing But You

There was pain in his voice and it tore at my soul
Underlying, the fact that I'd never be whole
I wished that I'd see you walk through those doors
Incredible sadness like never before

Feeling a presence I turned to the wall
Hoping to find you - but nothing at all
I wished if I turned to the side I would see
You standing there smiling, looking at me

But I took my turn, I broke my own fall
I tried to speak but it came in a drawl
Closing my eyes I pictured your face
I heard myself crying but there was no trace

I look back on life and I see how it went
Progressed from that point, all love was now spent
Times I was crying -- the only way through
I realized that I don't need him, only you

So look in my eyes and hold my hands tight
Clouds cover stars which once shone so bright
This new day has dawned, darker than before
Even the waves cannot make it to shore

I still feel a love that just won't go away
But hopefully lessens with each passing day
And now that pain comes with all that I do
I wish I had nothing in life except you...
