What to compare

Topic: MiscPoems

From the lips of people, ask what ‘truth’ may be
It is the speech, from every taint of evil, remains free

If falsehood could take the place of truthful word
With blessings, free from fault, even then it can afford

Speak not a word, which is false and thyself knows
With self-kindled fire within the false, one`s spirit glows

Being true to their inner souls, who live enshrined
They will live in the souls of entire mankind

Greater are those, who speak truth to their full consenting mind
Than those whose lives have penitence and charity combined

No praise as that of words from falsehood free
Which yields every virtue spontaneously

For all your life, thy utter truth and so acts are done
Its well that even if other virtuous acts are left undone

External purity, on the body the water will bestow
The internal purity, for soul, from truth alone will flow

Brightness is not from a lamp in wise person`s sight
It comes from the lamp with truth`s pure radiance bright

Of all good things being scanned with studious care
There`s not one that can with truthfulness compare

This poem is good, once you get through it. It's kind of tough to get through, with the (I think) superfluous repetition of the words "truth" and "false." It just seems to weigh the piece down so you kind of have to trudge through it like a bog.
However, once you get past that and read it over a couple of times, it proves to be a pretty good poem.

Lots of love and peace be with you,

Chelsea
