I Love You More

“I Love You More” - by J. Samuelson©Copyright2001 05/30

You told me that you love me
As I walked out the door
Remember what I said then
I said “I Love You More.”

I didn’t want to leave you
Alone there in my bed
I almost turned around then
And just stayed home instead.

The way you looked up at me
I just had to look away
It melted me so sweetly
I so wanted to stay.

I missed you all day long
Like every day before
And I still say to you
My dear “I Love You More.”

I’m home again at last
Now I’m waiting for you
When you get home from work
I know what I will do.

I’ll hold you in my arms
And give the softest kiss
And make up for these hours
Today, that we did miss.

I’ll tell you how my day was
You’ll tell me about yours
We’ll go outside together
And watch the rain that pours.

We’ll sway out in the weather
Our hair now soaking wet
Watch as the whole sky clears
Wait for the sun to set.

Then I will whisper softly
Those words you’ve heard before
It’s time to go to sleep now
And still, “I Love You More.”

Tomorrow when we wake up
And I walk out the door
You’ll tell me that you love me
But know “I Love You More.”
