My Epitaph

Contributed by springchic1979 on Friday, 6th December 2002 @ 08:20:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

My Epitaph

Do not waste your tears on me
Though my time on Earth is through.
I am where I longed to be--
It is I who cry for you.

Mere existence was a curse;
I did what I had to do.
Though my actions were perverse
It is I who cry for you

Eternity of repose
Shall surpass what life I knew
Etch upon my stone this prose:
"It is I who cry for you."

Thank you very much for the compliment Joel! :)

Now how do I explain the poem in relevance to the title....*scratches her head*...lol...I guess I will just run through the whole poem for you

An "Epitaph" are words/verses that are etched on a gravestone...since this poem is titled My Epitaph...I wanted to give the impression that I am dead. But I do not want people to mourn me because I have finally found happiness.

Throughout the poem I complain Life was like a Curse and that an eternity of Death would be far better then the Life I was living...I try to make it appear that I committed suicide

Then I ask that they
Etch upon my Stone this prose:
"It is I who cry for you"
(Picture a small gravestone with ONLY the words "It is I who cry for you" on it)
Meaning I weep for those who choose to continue to put themselves through the pain of Life's experiences.

Whoops sorry for rambling...hope it answers your question though. Thanks for taking the time to ask/comment Joel.

Thank you for the compliment Nessa. I wanted to write my own epitaph because I am not sure if I would like what other people would write for me...or worse yet...what would they write about me?

Thank you for the nice comment, Nessa. I would love to read your writing and will try to get around to reading them soon. As you know I am in the process of moving so it may be a few weeks before I can get some quality time. I don't want to rush through your writings.

love,
Yvonne
