Does it really matter
Or did it ever have a chance
What you thought you wanted
Disappeared in a flash
Through steamy windows
You stare out into the darkness
Streetlight gleams off fresh snow
Did you ever believe in Santa Clause?
You can’t seem to remember
What innocence felt like so long ago
Your nerves of steel
Coiled into a knot
You hide behind that harsh exterior
Paint job with racing stripes
So proud of who you think you are
But so lost inside
Where nothing lines up quite right
Dark eyes glaze over
As you stare at the TV set
Anonymous entertainment
Keeps you company
When sleep slides off the bed
To leave you shivering with discontent

This reminds me of so many people. There is such sadness for us looking in, yet, I wonder if they feel it, too, or are contented concealing their fear in their hardened souls.

I know of no one who tells it like it is as well as you do Gaille.
