I don't expect diamonds
I don't expect pearls
I don't expect you
to look at other girls
I don't expect to be happy
twenty-four/ seven
I don't expect to be treated
like an angel from heaven
I don't expect you to catch
every tear that I cry
But I do expect you
to stay by my side
I don't expect to be given
the stars form the sky
I don't expect an "I love you"
every time we say good-bye
I don't expect to be smothered
in gifts mile high
And when I ask for the truth
I don't expect you to lie
I don't expect promises
that I know you can't keep
I don't expect to be left
at night while I sleep
I don't expect you
to try and give me the world
All I expect from you
is unconditional love

Very good poem. Your last stanza throws it off a bit, but nevertheless- a very good read.

" . . .suffering has been stronger than all other teaching, and has taught me to understand what your heart used to be. I have been bent and broken, but - I hope - into a better shape."

expect nothing and never suffer dissapointment. you shouldnt expect it, it should be given without it being expected. excellent talent used to create a brilliant poem. |
