the tide has receded
the water is gone
a thought we must put behind us
footprints in the surf
have been
washed away
never another like them
the ocean
can get rough and hard
and the trip home may be perilous
but you gotta
pray a little harder
and work a little more
to get back to land
when you're in the surf
you get slapped around
knocked over
and thrown about
you just hafta
roll with the waves
and live with the bruises
things will get better
everything
is always changing
the surf, never the same twice
and once your castles are gone
there's no turning back
