Niagara Falls

Sedimentary words,
much like rocks beneath
the surface of a river.
Smoothed by the rush of
the water, words are smoothed
by the passing of thoughts –
and of time.
Discordant memories are
the fish, schools that loom
in the distance only to give
an effect of something sinister
swimming in the shallow pools
of the mind.
Cascade the waterfall as the muse
sends forth inspiration,
opening the flood gates and
allowing words to jumble together
downward to the paper –
the rocky surface to splash in rainbow hues.
Niagara Falls becomes a poet’s mind –
unleashed waters the words forming images.

Great poem. I have one a little like it...about words. Great imagery. I could see how just words could make that rainbow hue. Keep up the good work! |
