Taking My Life Back

Contributed by daydreamer22 on Thursday, 20th January 2005 @ 02:42:15 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I finally realized
This is how it has to be
I have to get my life back together
I have thrown everything I once knew away

It has come down to this
Two choices:
Continue in this downward spiral into darkness
Take my life back and make something of myself

I choose to take the second path for a change
I will quit taking drugs
I will quit having sex
I will get back into school
I will turn my life around

They say I am too far gone to go back
Thats what they think
I believe I can accomplish this
I had a life and...
I WANT IT BACK!

And I WILL take it back
No matter how hard it is to do so
I have to do this..
Not only for myself..
But for my family, my friends, my DAUGHTER

I will not let my child live like this
I have to set an example
She will NOT grow to be like I am..
Which soon will be past tense "WAS"
My life WILL be mine once again...

Very passionate, pain filled and triumphant. Straight from the heart, really nice job!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
