We stumble down the darkened path
Through the trees, down the steps
The light of a cell phone to guide us
Eager for a midnight adventure
We arrive at the shore
And stand staring out at the water
The night sky comes out at last,
Reveals a million billion stars, as if some
Deity tripped, spilling glitter across the universe.
Moon, floating up there, tries her best,
Shining in place of the sun, can only faintly
Reveal the lake, and nothing else.
Sitting on a cold wooden bench,
We listen to the background,
Absolute silence
Broken only by the waves
As they reach the shore.
We get up, hesitate a second,
Wander towards the cabins
Numb from the cold, proof that we were there.

You make me feel as if I were there. Nicely done. |

Sounds like a great experiance. Those are the times we remember most fondly. In the years to come those memories will come visit like an old friend who doesn't stay long, but leaves you warm inside. Cheers. |
