Somewhere in my swollen mind
Always knew that I would leave you crying.
I took everything you had to give
So badly needing your will to live.
Now when all is said and done
You walk away the wounded one
The role I have so often played
Now stands before me on this stage.
To say that I can feel your pain
Is nothing short of crushing you again.
I broke a heart already sore
And you would still come back for more.
However harsh was my goodbye
I couldn’t go on letting you try.
To draw me in when you deserve real bliss
And all I have to offer is this.
One day here, the next day gone
Feeling so weak, wanting to be strong.
So I am sorry to have let you down
And in my ignorance I drown.
For though you pay the ultimate cost
Real love is never worth the loss.
