So Close

I was so close,
It was almost within my reach.
I could taste it, I could smell it,
But it sapped me like a leech.
I felt it on my fingertips,
As it fell from my grasp.
It knocked the breath from me,
And left me with one last gasp,
The past is behind me,
It does no good looking back.
Look to what I have,
Instead of what I lack.
Alone in a crowded room,
I listen to my screams.
This is my very own realm,
This is the place of my dreams.
This is my one last breath,
The very start to the end.
I spend my days in dark Tartarus,
Waiting for a new life to begin.
