It makes you shake
It makes you scream
It's dim lights trap you in
A room that screams and howls at you
And scares away your dreams
And then when morning comes
It slowly whispers away

an interesting choice for your first post here. Talent found in grade school. Did you continue to write after that or put it away and come back to it later ? There is depth here that I wouldn't expect from someone that young.
Would I be the first then to welcome you into our YPDC family ? Welcome Carol, may you find the site as entertaining and as therapudic as have I, and many who have preceeded us ...
