Count Your Blessings

Topic: FriendshipPoetry

My friend Steve needs our prayers for a miracle, he has cancer throughout his body. May God Bless You All.
It wasn't long after I wrote this my friend Steve passed away.

Thought I would stop in to say hello
Only to find your not at work
I was told your in the hospital
My only thought was to be with you
So to the hospital I drove

Walking down the hall to his room
Entering his room not knowing what I will see
Three bags of medicine dripping into his veins
A strong man weakened from this disease
As I pull the curtain back he sees its me, he gives me a smile from ear to ear

As sick as he is he gets out of bed
And greats me with such a warm hug
You shouldn't be out of bed I say
He says for now you are the best medicine I could receive
We sat and talked openly about his cancer

From his waist down he has trippled in size
How the tumors are eating his insides
Holding my hands he then looked at me
He said with a smile
I'm happy and truly blessed

I have a wonderful wife that loves me
Six beautiful children that I love
Friends like you that care about me
God has blessed me with so much in life
I looked at him eyes filled with tears

As he wiped my cheek
He said don't cry for me
I want you to be happy
Just the way I am
And most of all count your blessings

Nancy

Such a sad, beautiful write. So true how quickly life can be taken away. Enjoy the time we are given and live life to its fullest.

Hugs,

The Voice

Nancy,
This past June I lost my seven week old precious baby girl to SIDS. We went to sleep one night and awaoke in the morning to find her gone. And if I have learned nothing else from this experiense, I have learned to "Count Your Blessings", because this world is a cruel place, where tomorrow is not promised to a single one of us. You just can't take a single thing for granted, not your dear friendship with Steve, and not the feeling of completion this adorable child brought to my life.
I needed to read this one tonight - there is one that "speaks" to me whenever I browse the sight. Tonight you win that award....
Awesome write!
Thanks for sharing!
juliette

Losing loved ones is always so hard. Having lost many, to me it is easier when you get to say goodbye than when they leave suddenly. Be blessed with peace.
