The Holocaust: A Poetic Tribute

Contributed by socialburnin on Monday, 17th January 2005 @ 07:54:36 PM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

In fire we burn eternally waiting
For our sweet redemption
You still have to pay
For our bitter distraction
Six Million or more
No one of us can tell
Six Million or more
Condemned Hitler to Hell

A Final Solution
A disgusting plan
Forever remains
A scar on the land
Shipped off in trains
Never to return
Hopping for the best
Never knowing the worst
Shot in the back
Or gassed in the nude
Worked to death
Many cut down too soon
Blood has stained
The center of Europe
The camps still remain
And the screams are stilled heard
Idly the people watched as the passed
Knowing not that The Leader
Was having them gassed

A line of Ghosts march silently past
There bodies still broken
There eyes still sunken
There tears still vivid
There mouths still formed in silent question
Why?
Jews, Slaves, Gypsies and more
They never quite were sure
What the camps had in store
They weren't sure of the horror
That was waiting inside
Never knew that there was no place
That there children could hide

Appalling and disgusting
The images still remain
Bitter and hateful
Our feelings towards his name
History and humanity
Judge him as crazy
But for Six Million people
It offers no safety

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
