Water Oozle

Contributed by carrie on Saturday, 20th July 2002 @ 02:48:41 PM in AEST
Topic: Tributes

A tumultuous feeling is arising in my heart.
A sorrow and a joy before alien to me.
It nearly blinds my sight to this lovely scene of nature.

Scotland, I have to go.
It grieves me to see you bathed in such golden sun
for I’ll not take you in my arms again
for a long, long time.

My eyes are run with tears
for the thought of losing you is now real.
The peace of spirit that you’ve given me
can never be equaled by another.

Every blazing morning that locks my vision
to the scene beyond my window.
The little side streets full
of strolling Scotsmen and ladies.
The bright, red church and
lovely, multi-colored gardens before each cottage or flat.

Your sun that sets alight the skies and hills.
The mountains I will not forget,
strong as giants, kind and dear to my heart.
I’ll miss you so.

The glen all covered in mist,
peeping out under it’s running, grim tears.
They ripple and swell by spongey jade banks.
Water smelling of moss and peat,
fresh and alive, such a fragrance wakes the mind.

A small, water oozle is playing
on a grey rock nearby.
Her perches on one and then another.
Two black eyes stare at me scornfully
from a rumple of white feathers.

He preens himself, smoothing his black wings
to a high gloss and gazing down
into his reflection on the silver water.
I know he sees me, though he acknowledges
my presence not for a moment, as he tips up and down
his tail very saucily.

I think perhaps he is too early for a lovers’ meeting
and I have interrupted his last minute preparation.
He casually pecks at invisible objects beneath the surface.

I have come here to say goodbye to Aberfeldy.
For this moment, I pray that the memory
is captured clearly now.
My need of it will be great when I can
no longer take this beauty for granted.

Goodbye for now, my fair friend
and home, Scotland.

Difficult to leave somewhere you love as much as this. And I can tell you love this place so much by the way you pictured it for me.
You took me there.......thanks

Stunning imagery here Carrie ....I know how beautiful Scotland is, having spent time there years back and you have captured the unique atmosphere wonderfully well.
