Letter To My Son

Contributed by purplerosepoet on Thursday, 5th December 2002 @ 10:20:00 PM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

You are the child I call my miracle baby
We were so excited when we were told;
I carried you for ten months...thirty-seven hours..
A life we created that we would mold.
People were amazed by your full head of hair,
You were quite the happy little baby boy;
I nursed you from the day you were born,
You gave me such happiness and joy.
Over the years you put Mom through some times,
We fought city hall and Mom's abusive boyfriend;
You were my protector even though you were small,
I knew somehow that relationship had to end.
There were times you were incarcerated;
I must admit it truly broke my heart,
To know that such a loving boy could do so wrong,
But you always told Mom your love would never part.
By the time your teen years came and went
A lot of changes in our lives occurred and we grew,
There couldn't ever be aa living soul around,
That could come between Mother and son...me and you.

Good to hear your son is free. You've inspired me to write to/about my children. Thanks.
