Could we truely say 'We can survive'
Living in this system with all it's dirty lies
Can we truely say 'We are free'
Living with our dark history.
Seems to me that by the Traditions we hold
Life dont mean much, no more than a piece of gold
Each year people displaying flags of a long gone war
And three boy's lives are lost, just like the one's before.
Peace treaties signed, money comes flooding in
Cant we see it's all for politicians gain?
Tempers are raised, North, South East and West
We sit in silence, you and I
And try to decide what's best.
Can't you tell me what's the best?
Could we truely say 'We can survive'
Living in this system with all it's dirty lies
Can we truely say 'We are free'
Living with our dark history.

Old habits die hard. Like marches and such like - I personally find them distasteful, but they are the link that binds some communities to their sense of nationalism, and can only change over a long period of time. I'm not Irish, but I would like to see Ireland at least united in peace, if not in nationhood.
Welcome to YPDC, by the way. |
