Christmas Without Dad

I sometimes feel like my hearts cut in two,
Apart that joyous, a part that’s blue.
Half that beats the Christmas cheer,
The other that’s filled with sadness and tears.
For my Father passed away this time of year,
No seasons been the same without him here.
I continue to miss him more with each passing day,
As I count the years since he went away.
Remembering Christmas from years gone by,
Continues to make me laugh, but also makes me cry.
He was so full of life, and he loved this time of year,
And his presence is missed beside Mom in his chair.
But I'll light a candle for him this Christmas season,
While surrounding our family with love, for He was the reason.

Jeff, what a beautiful poem about your Dad. I'm sure he heard your words and misses you, too. Bless you and yours. Dot |
