Backwards

I take a step forward
Or so it seems
Time goes and I’m not gaining
I’m stuck inside a dream

Close my eyes
I see blackness
The empty part of knowing
Is haunting endless

Life pauses
For me to breathe
Then fast forwards
No longer waiting for me

I can’t grasp anything
All there is are broken dreams
Slipping away bit by bit
What will become of me ?

I’m not moving anywhere near
The new beginning
Tickets were bought
And the movie is not ending

Swirling in a mess of yesterday
Will tomorrow ever come ?
I’m numb and waiting
But my heart is dumb

I ravel alone
I need a companion
To walk a backwards street
To see the mountain, but be stuck in the canyon

Too much of me is exposed
The darkness is washing me away
All the happiness, smiles, and laughter
Are fading, day by day

I need to move
But there’s nothing to gain
My mind is playing tricks
Skin is in pain

Life pauses
For me to breathe
No air flowing out
Shadows become me .
