The Back Porch

Contributed by friend7299 on Sunday, 16th January 2005 @ 04:12:36 AM in AEST
Topic: PoemsonBeauty

as i sit out on the back porch
and look at the glowing gold pink dusty
color of the clouds at sunset in australia
i can really feel the spirit of this great
and lucky country entrap me in the safety
of its embrace
i hear in the background my children
my kids how innocent and happy they are
are in this part of the wide universe
the wildlife is abundant here
even in the city i cant believe how active
birds and animals are here
the colors in our wildlife amazes me
earthy brown and pink and grey and yellow
and white and red
how wonderful is this place and how lucky
what place is better i have no idea
it seems that i have all that i could
ever want or need here in this place
my heart will always draw me back

I tend to ignore free verse poetry, but yours stands out from the rest. I like this a lot.

I don't tend to see free-verse poetry on the site and when i do it often turns out that it wasn't really worth reading..but this was brilliant!loved it!
