I said you were
My best friend
But I lied
I can’t have friend
Don’t want them either
Too much hassle
I’d have to be there
When you needed me
And I’d have to comfort you too
I’d have to tell you the truth
Show you the real me
And nobody can see that
So every time I talked
To you
I would lie
So much struggle
For so little gain
So I ended it
I said something
I knew you wouldn’t
Want to hear
I broke our
Assumed bond
I know I hurt you
But it was
Killing me
To continue

| An interesting poem to be sure, and on a subject I had never thought about, as in never thought existed, I guess. You convey your pain so well on this, so much so that you have to leave a friend behind. As was mentioned, we all need somebody. I hope whatever was behind what is killing you stops doing so. A heartfelt write. |
