Graveside

Contributed by thespiritx on Thursday, 5th December 2002 @ 11:30:00 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

She was 19 and beautiful.

A daughter untainted.

With everything to live for.

She hid her emotions

From all.

Deep inside she hurt.

They saw her at school.

She was always cheery and smiling.

The guys thought she was cute.

It tore at her soul,

That unknown pain

She never showed.

She went to church.

The congregation loved her.

She was an excellent singer.

Yet the agony and despair

Never left.

They haunted her even there.

She graduated high school.

Even thought about college.

She is not there now.

The sadness developed

Into torturous thoughts.

It consumed her.

Alone in her room,

She wept for herself.

She wept for her life.

Ravaged and torn

She was in her mind.

She knew it was time.

To her father

She bid goodbye

With a note of love.

To her mother

She bid farewell

With a note of love.

To her brother, only 14,

She bid him joy

And happiness eternal.

To Crystal, her "friend for life,"

She bid much luck

With a bracelet once received.

To the world, however,

She expressed anger.

She expressed hate.

She expressed pain, grief and sadness.

She despised the world.

Erin had beauty.

She had popularity and friends.

Erin had life,

And for that, we love her.

Excellent conveying of what a true depressed person goes through. Gut wrenching and beautiful at the same time. How interesting the love she has for her family, even as she loathes the world that drives her to death. Deep meaning and feeling are here.
(Thank you for the welcome, by the way :))
