The Conditioner Is not In Your Hair, But In Your Mind

Contributed by Diatribe on Friday, 14th January 2005 @ 11:47:17 PM in AEST
Topic: AmericanTragedy

You would just die if I were to see you
without your face on
That much time spent in front of the mirror
should be eligible for punishment
dim the lighting and hand me a glass of water to,
wash down this key
so I can keep you locked away
you know I'd never hurt you
just like I know you'd probably ruin me
if only given the opportunity
holding one another
as you cry on my shoulder
in a bathroom that reeks of perfume
with the powder from your nose
scattered all over
like the settled dust from a fast getaway
you've accustomed yourself to this
pseudo-beauty
which you apply everyday
and it's no wonder why
the absence of it makes you seem ugly
... Excuse me while I change
your tears stained my shirt with black residue
and I'm sorry I yelled at you...

... I feel so sorry for you

It's true...society puts way too much emphasis on looks and beauty. Thanks for posting.

Attractive title, painful poem. Very good piece!

Insightful and well written.

You are better at this than I remember . . . why is that?

Probably my seive-like memory.
