Sadness sings a hollow tune

Sadness sings a hollow tune,
gently humming in my ear.
Softly fading into the black of night,
this deathly lullaby stops all blood flow
as my body turns cold.
The weight of stone is in no comparison
to that of my dead heart,
no longer beating.
Sister Solitude makes my bed
for me to lie in,
a shallow grave to my
waking dreams.
Blankets and sheets are only layers
and layers
of dirt,
as I lay motionless
being smothered by Life it's self,
that brilliant light
that faded out
long ago.
To stay in this dream state
is too frightening,
to wake,
is a fate worse than Death.
