THE RED DRESS

THE RED DRESS

WHEN WIL IT BE WORN FOR SHOW
TO THE MAN WHO KNOWS THE FLOW
OF TWO HEARTS THAT CAN REACH THE PLATEAU
WILL THERE BE SORROW
FOR NO TOMORROW

HOLD ME CLOSE AND FEEL THE SWAY
HOLD ME CLOSE SO WE MELT AWAY
HOLD ME CLOSE AND FEEL THE BEAT
HOLD ME CLOSE AND FEEL THE HEAT
BENEATH THE RED DRESS OH SO NEAT

THE BEAT OF THE MUSIC IS SOFT AND SLOW
IT’S JUST YOU AND ME TO SHOW
THE WORLD OUR DELIGHT
TAKE MY BODY AND WRAP ME TIGHT
IN YOUR ARMS WITH ALL THEIR MIGHT
THE RED DRESS SETS US APART

TASTE THE COOL NIGHT AIR UPON MY LIPS
FEEL THE TINGLE WITH OUR BODIES SO FAIR
BRUSH MY HAIR WITH YOUR HANDS OF FLAIR
TRAIL MY BODY BENEATH THE RED GLARE
SO SOFT AND SHINY DO YOU DARE
TO SHARE THE RED DRESS

THE SKY IS BRIGHT ON THIS
MOON LITE NIGHT
THE STARS ARE TWINKLING
AND WINKING WITH DELIGHT
THEY KNOW AS WE GLIDE THAT
ONCE AGAIN WE ARE SIDE BY SIDE
TO ENJOY THE RED DRESS

OPEN UP YOUR HEART AND MIND
DOWN SHUT DOWN TILL THE END OF TIME
FOR IN THE DARK HANGS
THE RED DRESS

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
