One eventful February 1969 night
Our base camp attacked
We are surprised by gooks in the wire
Explosions are loud
Bullets flying all around
Smoke lingers in the air
Dr. Adams and his medics
Are working on the wounded
The pace is fast but under control
GI walks in not saying a word
Lies down and then he dies
He is noticed right away
Medics work hard
Working as a team
To bring him back
Heart compressions are begun
And the air of life is blown into his lungs
We take turns hoping that he won’t go
Our healing hands and breathe of life
Recaptures him from deaths door
This was a magic night--a miracle of renewed life.
