We sit and stare at the flickering TV screen
Mass destruction, mounds of bodies, thank god it isn’t me…
Selfish thoughts run through our brains
Self-preservation is all the rage
Why can’t we start a new golden age?
Why can’t we let go of this bright stage?
We could reach out to those in need
Reaching out instead of watching them bleed
Why can’t we plant a selfless seed?
Of love and trust instead of greed
Flick through the channels there’s nothing on
See the News and hear their tortured song
Just keep on going there’s nothing wrong
Just turn a blind eye all your life long
I can’t change the world with a single view
I’m selfish and lost just like you
Does it matter if we save a selective few?
What makes them less than me or you?
Destroy them all it’s black or white
There is no gray in this endless fight
They’re wrong and we’re always right
Too bad we lost the perpetual light
Souls in darkness deep as night
Take the remote and flick once more
That’s all it takes to ignore
The apocalypse we have for you in store
If we close our eyes we can’t see the gore
If we look away the picture changes
Never stare too close you might recognize their faces
