Establishing the Meaning of Life at 5am on a Sunday Morning on My Birthday

Contributed by Blackevar on Tuesday, 11th January 2005 @ 03:44:48 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Sunrise in the room it fills,
Dead flies on window sills,
Yeah I relate,
Does that make me deep or just sad and irate?
It’s a fine line, a shame, a crime, a sign of the time,
That waited for no man,
Including me, damn
Sigh, sad eyes, cry burnt blind, now bitter, bitter dry,
My, my, how we’ve grown, grown up, grown ***** up,
***** up and fancy free, yeah that’s me,
What you see is what you get, so get this,
We could share a cursed kiss, with a venomous hiss,
Bliss in this darkroom,
We could live and die together in a wall papered tomb.
It’s not all doom and gloom,
Just the interesting part, but that I can dissect and turn in to art,
Find solace, in writing it down and spitting it out,
I spat it out till I had cotton mouth,
Left with the taste vile of burning bile,
A bitter smile and a cynical style,
The meaning of life? Wait a while,
After sunrise,
When cloud filled skies,
Hang over, long walks with long sighs, while time flies,
Pretty deep?
Dig a little,
Let’s explore,
Would you like to see a little more?
I don’t want to bore,
Well here we are at the core.
Open the door,
How embarrassing,
How embarrassingly bare
Don’t stare,
I was not aware,
Not deep,
Just sad and irate,
But you must relate, just you wait,
Till I get you home, home alone,
Over long and over blown,
I go home on my own,
Shallow waters can drown too,
They’re still blue, they’re still wet,
They can still cause a water death,
Catch a breath,
Sunrise in the room it fills,
Dead flies on window sills,

Breath in, Breath out,
That is the meaning of life,
Breath in, Breath out,
That process continued till it cannot sustain itself,
Breath in, Breath out,
That process will end eventually,
Breath in, Breath out,
When it does meaning will have no function,
Breath in, Breath out,
Cause there’ll be no life to sustain it it,
Breath in, Breath out,
That is the Meaning of Life.

seemed more like prose or a soliloquey than poetry and it was quite confusing and incoherent but sometimes the meaning of a poem is only meant for the poet to know... so I appreciate it for what it is. Interesting work!
