Through The Eyes Of A Child

Contributed by The_Phantom on Wednesday, 4th December 2002 @ 05:20:00 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

Through the eyes of a child, I can't help but smile,
Not a single care, just as long as you play fair,
Give them something to eat, look both ways before you cross the street,
Hide and seek, settle down now it's time to go to sleep,

All of this brings back memories, just like learning my ABC's,
Through their eyes there's no race or color, everyone is a sister or bother,
There's no anger or hate, oh no don't eat the paste,
Only love in their eyes, and the innocent tears they cry,

Through the eyes of a child, curiosity runs wild,
We watch them grow, praying and hoping they have no foes,
We reach for them as they go out on a limb,
But we must let them go,so they can learn and grow,

We watch their eyes light up, at Christmas time with all the new stuff,
Their first tooth, hair cut, and while they grow up,
When they cry, and your confused on why,
When they break a bone, and your calling 911 on the phone,

Their first brithday cake, to their first heart break,
We watch them grow, hoping the world is better when they are old,
Teaching them wrong form right, comforting them on those scary nights,
Guiding them the entire way, you know I miss those days.

Forever Faithful
The Phantom
