The Plastic Trophy

Contributed by Willofree on Monday, 10th January 2005 @ 07:34:05 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Sometimes winning seems so important
Thought of loosing is too difficult to bare
Such pressure we put on ourselves to perform
Winning the first prize is all that matters

So the Plastic Trophy is won

It seems we go through life seeking recognition
Everyone competing with each other
Why do we have to win, or even compete
Isn't it okay to just have some fun

So the Plastic Trophy is won

Who says we must be so successful
Isn't it ok to just do the best one can
If we make a mistake, is it the end of the world
It shouldn't be necessary to be the best

So the Plastic Trophy is won

To go through life needing to prove
That we are really okay as a person
Is a true waste of our time altogether
To say nothing of our wasted talent

So the Plastic Trophy is won

What is our life really all about
To avoid the hypocrisy and waste
So that we can live our life as we see fit
Following our own hopes, wishes and dreams

This is what our life is about

For this there is no trophy

Plastic trophies... an interesting thought. It does seem that sometimes
we go through life attempting to impress those around us, and get in
that "IN" circle, no matter the cost. This write was interesting, made me
think even on my presence around this "wonderful" thing we call the internet.

Good thought provoking poem most certainly.

Excellent thoughts. I'm so glad God hands out REAL crowns and not plastic trophies.

I really appreciate your insight here. It is enough to be good at what you do ... but the key is to enjoy it. Striving to be the best sometimes removes the pleasure and enjoyment from things ... Nice write Terry.
