Recipe for Death

Contributed by kratur on Monday, 10th January 2005 @ 11:58:46 AM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

The death card flipped up just to destroy my bet
And now I’ve got ten fingers of debt
They all came for me in the dead of the night
And they tamed me so that I will never again be able to bite

I turned on the TV and I saw God laughing at me
And I just smiled right back because I saw His hand moving on a string
But even though I know the Bible is dead and its pages are blank
It only means that God is gone and that the world’s salvation ship sank

There is no escape from the gray area of the mathematics
But there is indeed an escape from these everyday semantics
This one says my head won’t think and this other one says my fingers won’t feel
I’d better get this right because it hurts so bad to heal

Let’s see, I need a dab of this and a dash of that
Let’s see, I can grind this up and shave it like a cat
God will never be able to get inside my head
Because I will lay down and sleep till I’m dead

this is a very emotionaly sad poem it sounds like you have just giving up and dont care anymore. please dont think like this God is not gone even if you cant see Him and He still loves you.

this poem was well writing and had a nice flow, it is well though out and has deep emotion. very good

I disagree. I don't see this as sad, but rather facing reality with a plan. OK, so it is a morally bankrupt plan. (And I completely disagree with the premise that you can either run from or discount God as dead.) Still it is a plan nonetheless, offering hope of being the master of your own being (or in this case not-being, pardon the pun). Therefore for this upbeat and promising poem :-) I give it a 5 for style and content, but overall a 3.5 for resorting to death as an answer for life. Good job.
