Ship Of Fools (Forever Sails) - A Lyric

Contributed by mdmorash on Sunday, 9th January 2005 @ 08:53:22 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

(Verse)
So shadows now ... they tell the tale,
Of shipwrecked fools ... destined to fail;
On splintered bow, they carry on ... their eyes unseeing.
Forgetting all ... that they have done,
Though they would say ... it's just for fun;
So on they drift, through frozen swells ... to their non-being.

(Pre-Chorus)
'Cause till the labyrinth is mastered,
They are destined to be lost.
And as dreams are turned to nightmares,
They are beaten by the cost.

(Chorus)
And ghosts, they cry, while screaming, “Why!?”,
But the answer they just won't hear.
A ship of fools, once Satan's tools,
And now the cancer of our fear.

(Post Chorus)
But there's still time to beat its rhyme,
When His name's all you need to say.
For then you'd see what's meant to be,
And by His light you'll find your way.

(Verse)
But naïve souls ... are taken quick,
To work the masts ... as seconds tick;
Just marking time, to keep their eyes ... blind and believing.
Through blatant lies ... the night takes hold,
While thunder calls ... and spreads the cold;
The lustful hearts, freeze as they pledge ... to its deceiving.

(Pre-Chorus)
'Cause till the labyrinth is mastered,
They are destined to be lost.
And as dreams are turned to nightmares,
They are beaten by the cost.

(Chorus)
So by their sight, they blame the night,
Though their vision is far from clear.
They chose their way, and parts they'd play,
But the winter winds start to sear.

(Post Chorus)
But even though the north winds blow,
Frozen hearts can be restored.
So grab an ore, and head for shore,
Where you'll find you are adored.

(Bridge)
'Cause nothing has been gained,
Though so much has been lost.
Your payment has come due,
But you can't pay the cost.
Now soulless you've been left,
Just a shell bound by pain.
While shadows fill your sails,
You are blind to their stain.

(Instrumental / Solo – guitar 1 / Abbreviated)

(Bridge Continued)
Your story's told by scars,
From lies you've buried deep.
They fester and they burn,
And take hold while you sleep.
You're running out of time,
To turn back to the light.
His promise is for you.
It frees you from the night.

(Instrumental / Solo – guitar 1 / Full)

(Post Chorus)
But even though the north winds blow,
Frozen hearts can be restored.
So grab an ore, and head for shore,
Where you'll find you are adored.

(Instrumental / Solo – guitar 2 / Abbreviated)

(All fade behind guitar 3)

(Outré)
And in the end ... it's you who'll choose,
When all can ask ... the silent lose;
And never know, what's writ' in stone ... a truth unyielding.
Will you be there ... to see His smile,
And let Him light ... your darkest mile;
Just answer yes, and take His hand ... a strength unyielding.

(Guitar 3 to end)
