Deprivation of Love

Contributed by alternachik29 on Wednesday, 4th December 2002 @ 05:00:00 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

She dreams of silver linings,
And his dark stormy skies.
Of mercury to stain her skin,
And secret lightning caresses.

Barbed wire and thorns twist up her
bare body,
reopening long-lost scars,
caging her in.
She drops into a ball,
cowering away from shadow nightmares.
Elvish emeralds bleed tears.
The black tendrils that swirl around her
wipe them away.

She reaches out in the darkness to him,
but flinches back when pricked by thorns.
The distance wrenches her soul.
The only thing keeping her
from diving into the blades,
Is the hope of seeing him again.

The stars filtered through the velvet
reflect off the crimson pools in her eyes.
Her black nails pierce her palms
within her clenched fists.
Blood is drawn from where she bites her lip.
Her eyelids squeeze shut,
Because all she sees is drowing blood.
And in her mind's eye,
She sees him awaiting her return.
She notices the sorrow in his ocean waves,
And strives to calm the waters with a kiss,
but she's too far.
Her eyes shoot open at the realization.
She throws her head back,
And from the depths of her being,
she screams in anguish.

What a wonderfully morbid poem! The entire poem was excellent, very vivid imagery, and I really loved the ending!

"Her eyes shoot open at the realization.
She throws her head back,
And from the depths of her being,
she screams in anguish."

*applaud*
