Regrets

Topic: SadPoetry

you touched me badly
this I knew
yet I didn't know
you touched other girls too

I was sitting in English
bored out of my mind
when the girl in front of me
put a note in my hand

I read it once
then read it through again
I didn't believe it
how stupid I've been

as I wrote her back
I had tears in my eyes
He told me he'd stop
and I believed his lies

I told her I was sorry
for what he put her through
but little did I know
he touched her sister too

she told me the stories
she heard from her dad
her mother had told him
the things my uncle did

why didn't I tell
anyone that I knew
I kept it a secret
no one had a clue

I was foolish to think
it stopped with me
when I knew the kind of man
my uncle could be

so now I regret
keeping it to myself
I put all those thoughts
in a box on the shelf

I could have spared two more people
the pain that I had to deal with
I could have turned him in
and in jail he'd be delt with

Wow, thats a very heart felt poem, excellent writing, you are very brave to share that. Most people I know would never have been willing to share that. Keep writing and thanks for the comment on "The Grid Iron".
