Four and the Hour

Four days and one hour
An hour stolen from me
By pure exhaustion
Those sixty long minutes
Tortured by the same terrors
of my waking state
The fourth night spent
In the same routine
Of gasps and regret
Of selfish longing
And undeserved fantasies
Far from this universe
Preceding these four
Is another, a cause or the cause
And a reminder
That fools of this creed
Were never meant to destroy
The sad and beautiful world
In which you live
