Last Time I Got Burned

Contributed by darkplaidbabe on Saturday, 8th January 2005 @ 05:20:25 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

Last time I got burned.
Yes, it’s a free country.
Yes, its called freedom of speech.
Yes, I reacted badly.
But what happened to manners?
What happened to common courtesy?
Has it become a status symbol to be an *****?
To be heartless? Rude?
Has it become a plus to put out in the first hour of the date?
Since when did suicide become a trend?
Have Americans always hated their own country?
Their own leaders too?
What happened to respect?
What about kindness?
Nothing seems sacred anymore…
Not feelings, not love, not heartbreak, not religion….
Especially not tears.
So what happens when someone tries to be respectful, to have feelings, to be heart-broken?
They get burned.

This poem is the exact parallel of how I feel...This piece was possibly the best I've read on here, just because everything you said is so true...not very many poets actually write anything true anymore...This is a modern masterpiece, and you did an excellent job writing this...This makes the 5 star maximum seem not enough...It seemed as if you were standing right in front of me screaming at the top of your voice this poem...Wonderfully written...Bravo

Mason

I agree with Mason... this is an excellent piece! It does seem as if u're standing in front of the reader SCREAMING this to the top of your lungs! It like u want the world to hear what u have to say... and shouting it is the only way to be heard. Sometimes that is the only way to get ppl to listen... but u really wonder sometimes if they are?!
Good job!!! For having to guts to write such a truthful piece.... It's quite refreshing to read... I stand right beside u with this poem!
