Lonely skeletons
– Dance –
Upon a winter’s bitter flake;
Waltzing below crystal bridges,
Under a grey sky with
Cold winds and an even
Colder heart,
Hidden within hills of
Shining glass,
Glittering in the dusk,
As though a million tiny mirrors
– Broken –
Alit upon the soft tendrils
Of weeping mists and
Shy skies.
A fearful dance for one, or two,
Or three, or more.
Entwining and curling,
Like bonfire smoke,
Consuming foul flesh,
Tainted with Earthly poisons;
Screaming within protesting veins,
Unholy cries rattling within
Hollow chests.
Beating vainly against malleable ribcages,
Like a vagrant’s home,
Leaking and broken.
A weed within an otherwise
– Flawless –
Field.
And there they dance,
An endless celebration,
In a perfect hour
Of short-lived paradise.

Very eloquent words and imagery. I like the style in which this was written. It shows a talent for knowing when to end a line, which gives the piece an excellent flow and feel. Well done!
