The Grid Iron

Our front yard was a stadium,
The field up the road the Super Bowl,
Hours upon hours were spent,
Playing on that grassy knowl,
Care free moments were enjoyed,
As up and down we would run with a ball,
Throw it, pitch it, run it, catch it,
Summer, winter, spring, and fall,
Child hood days spent with ease,
Playing out our favorite sport,
When looking back in retrospect,
Those days were far too short,
But even now as the hours grow older,
I think back to those grid iron days,
Before I found myself matured,
And life became a busy haze,

I just visited a small town where I lived as a girl..the giant hill I had to climb to go to school..LOL..it's barely a mound.. it seemed so big back then.. it seemed a mountain..and time seemed endless.. |

Sweet nostalgia, rose-tinting our childhood memories. Ah, yes. An evocative poem, taking the reader back to the personal. Hang onto to the joy of those days- it'll get you through the haze. And keep chucking that pig skin.
