Pathways to Redemption

Contributed by Spike on Thursday, 6th January 2005 @ 02:45:20 AM in AEST
Topic: spiritual

I’m seeking something that I lost,
My prayers and meditations long
The numinous, a blissful host,
The remnants of a sacred song

Holy spirit come unto me,
Inner guide please speak your voice
Guardian angel, I need your strength,
How else will I again rejoice?

Once my soul held love divine,
A radiance of inner peace
Until logic overtook my mind,
And suddenly the feeling ceased

Too much darkness haunts my days,
A cast of shadows long and cold
In my youth I was infused,
Will faith return before I’m old?

Mantras, chants and invocations,
Knowledge sought in mystic texts
Marking off of all the Stations,
What level must I to move to next?

Fill me full of God’s good graces,
A cup that overflows its brim
I long to speak my secret wishes,
To sate the hollow that’s within.

I'm not a lapsed Catholic but I'm sort of a lapsed Christian and as soon as I read the first line "I'm seeking something that I lost" I instantly understood. Everything you wrote rang true for me and now you've gone and made me depressed! But that's OK, thanks for putting those feelings into words.

I was a lapsed Catholic, and then I found truth in a one-to-one relationship with Christ. There's nothing like that. We're all lost souls until we find Him. This is a good write. You describe those feelings well.

Seems loss is a word in my vocab as well lately. Yes I was raised catholic, but basically stopped going. I cant explain why, maybe just as you so stately put it in words.

very well spoke.
An all too common feeling out there.
May we all reclaim our faith.
Thank you for the expression...and confession.

Great poem. Faith may not return before you're old, but it will then, I'm sure of that.
Faith cometh by hearing the word of God. When you are old, you pay more attention to God's word and reading it is the same as hearing. Trouble is, most present day ministers aren't well read in the scriptures and just preach traditional beliefs. God bless.
P.S. Check out "Preterism" on the net when you have time. God bless
