Fell Like A Tree

Like a lumberjack would fell a tree-
My heart, also like this was done by she-
For with his ax he chops away the bark-
And like the ax, her deceit left its mark…
Crashing to the ground, left in the dirt-
Like the tree, I was left to hurt-
And just as the limbs of a mighty oak-
The chambers of my heart now are broke…
To the saw the tree must surely go-
As did my hearts trusting soul-
Soon cut away into endless section-
The tree and my heart became another’s selection…
Like the tree from beginning to end-
My heart, without a choice will never mend-
For nothing is left of what used to be-
The proof is here hidden deep inside of me…
