She walked away with bag in hand
Dreaming of that promised land
Vowing never to look behind
She'd erase the memories from her mind
She'd lived enough her heart was cold
She carried secrets never told
What little love she might have found
Came in times she wasn't proud
At least she'd thought if for that moment
Reality would reign her world of torment
Noone knew nor even cared
Broken promises bred grand despair
The time had come she had to leave
There'd be no sorrow no more grief
Off she went no time to waste
No turning back as she made haste
The thunder roared the lightning cracked
So hard she tried to not look back
At last her freedom so very clear
A fresh new start no more fear
She'd rather face a sure unknown
Than live on dreams that had not shown
The sky was grey she knew it poured
It did not matter that was all before
