Eulogy

Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Pick up your violin
And replay the sad notes of my eulogy
Replay it til you go insane
Use your wrist as the violin
And your razor as the bow
If it puts a smile on your face
Even though it hurts to smile
Especially when there's nothing left inside
Except tears and a broken heart

Awakened by screams
Only to discover they are my own
Awoken by these thoughts and dreams
Drive the scepter into my face
To get at those perverted thoughts
(I can) chase away the pain, negate these feelings,
But I can't get rid of these images,
Images of blood and tears
Silhouetted by a baby, tiny hands painted in blood

Sleep offers no relief just a temporary reprieve
From the things that haunt me
And even then I find no escape
As I awake more tired than before
Forced to accept only failure
And dreading each dying breath
With a piece of glass pressed to my wrist
And my eyes closed tight,
But they can't stop the tears from falling

Depression squeezing the life out of me
Drowning in the sea of my own thoughts
I'd trade everything for a day of happiness
As I limp through the desert of my mind
Seeking relief through myself,
Stumbling into welcome solitude
Deadends meet my persistence,
Left trapped with bloody fists on these walls
And I won't or can't cry out to God
A victim of my own stubborness

So... pick up your violin
And replay the sad notes of my eulogy

wow Joel, that was a truely amazing write.
A side to depression that some may not have noticed, a side that many feel and go through every day, only hoping for one day of pure happiness, but to some happiniess is a thing in the past.
That was a great write Joel, your poems are truely unique, and you have an amzing style in your writing. Keep up the good work

quite an ending. especially spectacular because you summed up the beginning amazingly with a twist. more should try that. i rather like that style. this was amazing. and there is always a back/trap door out of every thing.
