9 years to the day

"Sit in the dark now,
don’t follow along,
don’t come with me,
you’ll be okay, I’ll be back,
for you my precious angel".
That’s what you said,
9 years ago to the day,
five year old little me,
acutely believed you,
Dad, I bet you didn’t know
you were my hero,
the only superman that
saved me from nightmares
in my sleep.
And when I said "that’s
my dad" to people
I was so proud.
In my eyes you were
the worlds greatest.
Wow, dad, you messed that up,
when you left me there,
and never came back,
mom was so worried,
and couldn’t find me.
I still believed you
were coming back for me.
But then mom moved us to a different place,
because she was a afraid of you
and now I am too.
You left me, all alone just
sitting there,
sitting there in the dark,
9 years to this day.
It hurts my heart to even think of that,
to think of you.
I just can’t believe you would leave your
"precious angel",
sitting there waiting,
believing a lie.
Please don’t think you’ll
be in my life now,
that you’ve come back.
Because now in my eyes
all you are is worthless,
and what caused my nightmares.
