The revolution nearly happened,
But no one ever knew,
Because no ads were in the paper,
Or on the telly too,
They never put out listings,
Or promoted it on air,
Without proper market strategy,
The people didn’t care,
They never checked demographs,
Or did sample surveys,
Just promised a new liberty,
And the chance of better days,
The leaders gave out leaflets,
That spoke of what could be,
If you signed up with the junta,
As a revolutionary
Initially People responded well,
And joined the insurgency,
But then got distracted by a sale,
Two doors down in HMV,
Funding was a problem,
This caused numbers to slip,
It could have been resolved,
With corporate sponsorship,
Pepsi showed an interest,
Nike offered Shoes,
The leaders said that they could not,
Compromise their values,
So they organised a rally,
Where they could join and all protest,
But they put it on the very same night
As the Pop Idol Contest,
Instead of angry bearded lefties,
Taking time to vent,
Research shows they would be better off,
With celebrity endorsement,
So the leaders have decided,
No revolution any more,
Until they learn the noble art,
Of guerrilla trained PR.

Now ths is interesting poetry!!!!!!! Its contempory, fresh and even better, contracversial. I love it, I am absolutly appaling at writting humourous poetry, but you are Brilliant. It's not beacuse its funny taht it works however, or because its easy to grasp, but beacause it really has a grasp on what we are part of in society today. Satire has got to be the vogue of 2005, I mean with George bush elected president, mcDonalds introducing salads and our Priminister Tony Blair showing a complete lack of morals, by which us english stand by....lets roll on the humerous insights! well done!!!!!!!! |
