WORK, WORDS, AND WATER
By Katherine Faigen
The River of Purpose sweeps me downstream
And endless words pour through my submerged head
I am left stronger, things are as they seem
Pull girls! Together we work as a team
Words in the water are those that I said
The River of Purpose sweeps me downstream
Get angry girls, we're building up steam
Tonight I fall, passing out into bed
I am left stronger, things are as they seem
I'm at a desk, information I glean
And words fall onto the paper instead
The River of Purpose sweeps me downstream
Into the ocean, where all of my dreams
Become endless words, soon tired and dead
I am left stronger, things are as they seem
Until I change them, and the words scream
Run Girls! And into the water I fled
The River of Purpose sweeps me downstream
I am left stronger, things are as they seem

well i think i was going with the flow of it, and not even trying to make sense of it. this is a pretty good poem. well worked format. but the repetition of words for rhymes becomes dull. this was a very original poem. different than i expected. |
