Things Never Seem to go the Way We Planned

Innocent games
corrupted existance.
Childhood innocence
tainted, stained,
a strained remembrance.
Things never seem
to go the way we planned.
We're left to sink
alone in the quicksand.
Things never seem
to go the way we planned.
Walking together,
free friendships.
Crumbling on filmstrips,
cut apart, razor sharp,
dangling from ragged lips.
Things never seem
to go the way we planned.
We're left to sink
alone in the quicksand.
Things never seem
to go the way we planned.
Piercing memories
with none too fashionable regret.
Frozen, there is no reset,
we're alien to reason
and there is no way to forget.
Things never seem
to go the way we planned.
We're left to sink
alone in the quicksand.
Things never seem
to go the way we planned.
Fearing the future,
fall on bruised knees.
Pleading, forgive me please,
crossed lines I never meant to,
can you heal these broken bodies?

The repetition and the manner of rhyming make the point more poignant. Well written. |

Awesome poem Kara I can feel the honesty
and pain in this poem. It was great throughout
and I definitely know what its like to fear the
future. I like the whole repetition of that one
stanza it seemed to fit really well as well as
complement the next stanza.
